| Jerry Chandler PO Box 1682 Coppell, Texas 75019 DATE: May 1, 2009 To Parents of Mercury Track Club Participants: Thank you for allowing your athlete to run track this year. I have met many of you, and look forward to meeting the new parents. I am extremely excited about helping your young athlete expand their understanding of Track and Field. As their coach, my first emphasis will be on what I call fundamentals of running. I will work with your athlete to further develop their fundamental skills and hopefully we will have a lot of fun learning together. I demand that each athlete is respectful. Respectful to me, fellow runners, opponents, officials and those they come in contact with throughout the season. I believe it is important to develop an early understanding of sportsmanship and teamwork. My focus is to teach these young runners how to be successful with in himself. I hope that you also share this philosophy and will discuss and emphasize these concepts with your athlete throughout the season. Water/Refreshments It is highly recommended that your player bring a water bottle or jug to practices and track meet. We are outdoors and do not have access to drinking fountains. Practice During the week we will practice four days (Monday-Thursday). Typically during the summer there will be one meet on Tuesday night. Track Meets We will attend at least eight track meets and two championship meets. Cancellations Should a cancellation of a practice or track meet be necessary, I will do my best to contact you as soon as I learn of the cancellation or change.
